Description

Book an official introductory tour of the Fitzwilliam’s world-famous collections of art and antiquities. The Fitzwilliam Museum, one of Cambridge’s most impressive landmarks, is one of the finest regional museums in Europe, presenting world history and art from as far back as 2500 BC to the present day. This one-hour guided tour is the perfect introduction to its unique collections, including famous works by Rubens, Constable, Monet and Picasso and remarkable artefacts from ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Cyprus and the ancient near east.  Throughout the museum there are also significant collections of oriental art, illuminated manuscripts, and outstanding collections of applied arts, pottery, porcelain and medieval coins. Tours commence at the Courtyard entrance of the Museum at 14.30 on Saturdays throughout the year (only when the museum is open).

“Our tour guide, Catherine, made the museum come alive. She was helpful to my dear elderly mother, who really enjoyed it too as a consequence.”
